Last week I was standing on the docks when the schooner "Highlander Sea" came into port. Little did I know this vessel was built in Essex,Ma in 1924 as a Gloucester fishing schooner to compete in the International Schooner races. Her designer William Starling Burgess also designed the "Mayflower", "Columbia" and the "Puritan". Her designed closely resembles the "Puritan". However that was never to be as the races ended while she was under construction. The vessel was then rigged to be a Boston pilot boat and named "Pilot". In the 1970's she was sold and renamed "Star Pilot" and became a floating classroom in marine biology in California. In 1998 she went to Nova Scotia, Canada and renamed "Highlander Sea". In April of 2002, Acheson Ventures, LLC purchased Highlander Sea where she home ported in Port Huron,Michigan. Now she's back on Cape Ann awaiting here next life.
In the meantime the cruise ship "MS Eurodam" made a return visit and I managed to capture her with period sailing vessels in the shots.

It's not "soda" and not "pop" or even "soda pop" it's "tonic"!
It's a "rotary" not a "roundabout"!
"Going up the line" is a term used when leaving the island!
A "jigga"is a homemade powerless go-cart!
