The Japanese defense forces couldn't stop Godzilla.....I captured the beast!
Spied this over Route 128 on my way home from work. Dirty windshield and strong sun glare I had to darken the image and crop out the sun. That's the only edit to what's probably my worse quality image. I figured some would get a kick out of it so I posted the pic on facebook. A few shares later it's gone world wide! Who would of thunk it?

Why I created this......

Born and raised in Gloucester, Ma fishing gets in your blood. Surrounded by the sea, kids here have a boat almost as much as kids elsewhere have bicycles! As I grew older my fishing ambitions gave way to what's around me. Although I still "drop a line" every so often, my attention wanders to the majesty of the natural light that make this place so special. Never is each day the same. The subjects may be the same but the light from the sea & sky will morph the subject into a form of art. For that reason artists have been drawn to these shores for several hundred years, they followed the light painting and sketching these surroundings. What artists capture with paint on canvas, I attempt to capture with a click.....if I'm lucky!

I guess that's a sort of Fish'n!

Gloucester Schooner Festival...Parade of Sail 2010 !

With the passing of Hurricane Earl this years Gloucester Schooner Festival didn't have the full compliment of tall ships. Also several schooners were either in drydock or in financial problems such as the "Virginia" and one "Pride of Baltimore" choose to be in the Great Lakes for a schooner festival there. But "Earl" did leave a gusty breeze perfect for these majestic ships but challenging for the spectator fleet. On board this year was friend and fellow photo-blogger Steve Borichevsky creator of Shooting My Universe. We were tossed about trying to photograph the event and wondering the choice of other photographers which used tripods aboard other vessels!

Weak spray leads the Parade of Sail!

USCG patrol boat "Flying Fish" heads out of a choppy inner harbor.

This boat screamed through the spectator boats! Not a smart move.

Jay, your shots are great...very clean. You have a nice shot of our boat as well...scolding us for scooting through the spectator boats. Looks like rocks behind us in your photo. No spectator boats that I can see. We are always aware of our suroundings and safety is an utmost priority always. Chill out-don't be scared. The water is open to everyone, even photographers.

Thanks for the nice comments but operating that fast causing a dangerous wake is not very courteous. We were idle as you headed straight toward us as you raced to make the bridge opening. Maybe it's best to relax, take in your surroundings and enjoy the day.I was the one who waved to slow you down. There was in fact a kayaker just aft of me that was difficult to see through the chop.
You have a nice looking boat, enjoy it safely.
