The fishing industry has been the mainstay of Gloucester since 1623, the nations first industry has seen many changes good and bad. Some say over 10,000 fishermen from this port have lost their lives battling Mother Nature and now the fishermen struggle against extreme regulations. There is no fisherman that I know that doesn't want a sustainable industry where fair quota allocations protect the resource. But what NOAA has done with enforcement and the Catch Share program has the industry on the brink of collapse! The system must be fixed and fixed soon before more jobs are lost and a way of life!
