Logistics on a Grand Scale!
Components for the largest wind turbines on the east coast arrived in Gloucester and to get a sense on how large these are going to be check out the 160'long blades! With a finished diameter of 328' mounted on a hub over 300' off the ground imagine a football field spinning from the 50 yard line a football field high!
And below a comparison on how big these three turbines truly are:
Barge with support tower components.
Another view.
Old Glory
Crane at Varian with trailer counter weights attached!
Spectators on the Fish Pier check out the huge blades.
Lobster boat "Josephine & Samantha".
Passing by huge blade.
"Angela Rose" passes by.
Moving the trailer into position with help from the crane.
Lifting blade #2.
Two cranes carefully swing the huge blade.
Workers lower the blade.
More spectators.
