It's been a windy week and with the temps in the low 30's during the day and mid 20's at night it feels like the middle of Winter instead of late Fall. The last two days I compiled these images from around town.
The last photo of this series is what we as kids in Gloucester called a "jigger". The name comes from a low platform cart with wagon type wheels, some with two wheels and others with four and were used in the fishing industry in Gloucester way back up to the turn of the 20th century. They were used along the docks to haul fish, nets, barrels among other things. Some were large enough to be pulled by horses.
The ones we built similar to the one below had a pivoting front axle and you steered either by a rope or your feet as you speed down a hill. An un-glorified Soap Box Derby car! There were no video games back then...You built your on entertainment!
