Cape Ann Images: May 2009

Why I created this......

Born and raised in Gloucester, Ma fishing gets in your blood. Surrounded by the sea, kids here have a boat almost as much as kids elsewhere have bicycles! As I grew older my fishing ambitions gave way to what's around me. Although I still "drop a line" every so often, my attention wanders to the majesty of the natural light that make this place so special. Never is each day the same. The subjects may be the same but the light from the sea & sky will morph the subject into a form of art. For that reason artists have been drawn to these shores for several hundred years, they followed the light painting and sketching these surroundings. What artists capture with paint on canvas, I attempt to capture with a click.....if I'm lucky!

I guess that's a sort of Fish'n!

Chasing Rainbows and Other Stuff !

Late Sunday afternoon the blue skies gave way to thunderstorms,May has gone out with a bang! I had leftover photos from Saturday's boat excursion and then today jumped into the truck chasing rainbows.

Harbor Sights !

I took alot of photos and I managed to drop a line and fish. I had better luck taking pictures than catching fish! They got a show called "The Mad Fisherman"...If I had a show it would be called "The Lousy Fisherman" ! At least it was nice to kick back and listen to the Sox on the radio. The whale watching fleet is in full gear as activity around the harbor picks up.

Grey Sky and That's About It!

Light to moderate rain yesterday and nothing but grey sky today. The harbor meanwhile is in slumber mode. Aside from the lobster boats most of the fishing fleet sits idle until the 1st of June. The gulls screech,flock and wait as a handful of sport fishermen try their luck from the wharfs.
