About 9:30 Wednesday morning a line of T-storms swept through Cape Ann and though the rest of the day was breezy, it remained uneventful. But by late afternoon a series of tornadoes hit the western part of the state creating severe damage and disrupting the lives involved. At one point tornado warnings were issued by the National Weather Service for our area. Fortunately for us only a strange orange/pink sunset and distant lightning was the result.

The Barquentine "Gazela" out of Philadelphia was built 1901 in Portugal. She is 177' overall and her masts reach 94' above the deck.

Over here off Wheelers point The sky turned an erie Yellow at sunset.
