Even though Foxwoods Casino uses that as a slogan you could certainly use it for Gloucester. Pretty to look at, this harbor and it's make-up owes much to this to the fishing industry. But if you look beyond it's skin the fishing industry is in turmoil. For over 20 years Gloucester fishermen as well as other fishermen along the east coast have sacrificed much of their livelihood to assure future fish stocks would be bountiful. Now that fish stocks have rebounded government restrictions are limiting the amount of fish caught far below financial sustainability of the working fishermen today! Many of the stocks are over 70% above the sustainable limits. Yet.... what local boats remain, they are only allowed 20% or less to catch!

Wow! Great images! And the sunset pictures are incredible!!! What a huge cruise ship.
Yes, like most everything else, the fishing industry is definitely in termoil. Somehow I doubt it will ever be what it once was considering the way we take care of our oceans.
I think that the wonder of it all is that you can step out the back door and take shots like these at will.
When I visit other areas, I often wonder if I could sustain a blog like Cape Ann Images or SMU in the community that I'm visiting. Most of the time I think I would have to find a new hobby.
As you demonstrate here, it isn't just get one good shot, it is shot after shot after shot.
That is the wonder of it all. Gloucester is so cool.
