With Hurricane Earl getting closer life goes on. Hot and hazy has been the weather pattern with no clouds in sight for almost a week! But things are about to change. Due to dangerous rip tides all ocean facing beaches have been closed to swimming. Fishermen are still landing fish but the gillnetters and lobstermen are bringing in their gear.
And I went for a ride in the boat late in the afternoon. I figured I'd charge the battery and get the boat as hurricane ready as possible. That means covering all openings like the rod holders with duct tape, folding up and securing the bimini top and lowering the VHF antenna. The boat will stay in the water protected in Smith Cove, a cove in the inner harbor. There are too many trees near my home and the boat would be in more danger to damage there.
