Last Big Bash of the Summer!
As the schooners pull into port for the 24th Annual Gloucester Schooner Festival,they will be greeted by the site of the old Paint Factory finally under repair! During my Friday tour of the harbor one interesting thing happened to me. I was following the Coast Guard's 47'boat out and soon was racing her out to the breakwater! It's one of those things that happen when two boats are running side by side in open water.A glance over to see who's faster.No words are exchanged, it's difficult to explain, but we do wonder who has the fastest boat.Maybe that's how the fishermen were back in the schooner days when they raced back to port.Some say to get the best price for fish but I think the real reason was for bragging rights on who's vessel was faster. Anyway...... I won!
