A City Councilor felt its necessary to ease congestion in the St. Peter's Square area.
Howard "Raf" Johnson, a disabled bait and tackle peddler had set up shop with his truck selling bait & tackle at Rogers and Commercial streets for the past two seasons. He obtained a proper permit through the city for his "Fixed Vendor" site.
I pass his location three or more times a day and never seen any traffic issues! For five days during the St. Peter's Fiesta he's moved out of there and guess where the police park their "command trailer"? That's right.... in "Raf's" spot! If it's good enough for the police it should be good enough for his bait wagon. Gloucester is well known for it's fishing industry, tourism is a big draw because visitors want to see a working waterfront. "Raf" is part of that working waterfront. And I have at times seen tourist taking "Raf'" picture. He belongs,he's part of the fabric that is Gloucester!

In the meantime the Tarr & Wonson Paint Factory looks to be falling apart. Now owned by the non-profit Ocean Alliance the structure deteriorates while site clean-up continues even in the cold weather! What most of us don't see is the work being done behind the building. The fund drive continues that will turn this icon into their state-of-the-art world headquaters. More on this later.

For some reason I thought they had funding and were going to start working on the factory a year or two ago. Guess not, huh?
Gloucester looks so pretty with snow.
They started a fund drive several years ago. The only visable work done was to remove the skylights. It's gonna take alot of money just to clean the site,after all it produced marine paints from the 1860's to the 1980's!
