Gloucester's own Phil Bolger who passed away in May was one of the most prolific boat designers ever! With close to 700 designs to his credit his designs ranged from the smallest 8' pram to the 18th century 115' "HMS Surprise". Many of his designs were geared to the "do it yourselve" boat builders using plywood and basic tools. Simple,tough and efficient went into his designs and a cult like following admired his gift. This past Saturday a memorial of his life was held at the Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center and along with family and friends, so were many of his creations.

I was not aware that he was from Gloucester.
If it makes you feel any better I never heard of the guy until about 2 or 3 months before he died. By the sounds of it he was quite a guy
