The Japanese defense forces couldn't stop Godzilla.....I captured the beast!
Spied this over Route 128 on my way home from work. Dirty windshield and strong sun glare I had to darken the image and crop out the sun. That's the only edit to what's probably my worse quality image. I figured some would get a kick out of it so I posted the pic on facebook. A few shares later it's gone world wide! Who would of thunk it?

Why I created this......

Born and raised in Gloucester, Ma fishing gets in your blood. Surrounded by the sea, kids here have a boat almost as much as kids elsewhere have bicycles! As I grew older my fishing ambitions gave way to what's around me. Although I still "drop a line" every so often, my attention wanders to the majesty of the natural light that make this place so special. Never is each day the same. The subjects may be the same but the light from the sea & sky will morph the subject into a form of art. For that reason artists have been drawn to these shores for several hundred years, they followed the light painting and sketching these surroundings. What artists capture with paint on canvas, I attempt to capture with a click.....if I'm lucky!

I guess that's a sort of Fish'n!

Greasy Pole Controversy and Other Sights!

St. Peter's Fiesta 2009 is now a memory but what a memory it was! Controversy surrounded Saturday's Greasey Pole when all time Greasy Pole champ Salvi Bensen's crew from his boat "Salvage Star" ripped down the flag! You see Salvi maintains the pole adding the grease. He usually anchors just off the beach but with high tide and a large beach crowd many couldn't see the pole. The police moved in to tell him to move and things got heated. He did pull up anchor but as he was leaving his crew ripped down the flag in the process! This caused about a 30 minute delay while a new replacement flag was located. The first replacement flag was too short so another was found.
The rest is a collection of Greasy Pole activity that I had yet to post.

You people are crazy!!! I love it. I grew up in Marblehead, ma and we used to do the great race. But, they don't do that anymore. I'm glad to know that fun continues!

I was on salvy's boat when this great injustice went down. They should not have treated him like that. He is the all time champ and greases that pole every year. The least they can do for him is save a good spot so he can enjoy the event. The past few years they tried pulling the same thing and this time he wasn't going to take it. He put up the flag and he took the flag down. Maybe next year he will have a good view. Viva San pedro viva San salvy!!

I think the best solution would be for him to anchor out of the way of the beach and have a shuttle for him over to the boats rafted behind the pole. That way he could enjoy the contest among those who watched him for so long. Low tide with more beach available for the crowd I don't think it's an issue. But with little room on Saturday and such a large crowd, moving was a must.

I understand why they asked us to move, I just don't agree with how it was done. Salvy usualy has a spot as the last boat in the line. He usually ties up to the last boat directly in front of the flag. Gil usually has a reserved sign on his boat so that salvy can park there. This year people in smaller boats moved in an refused to move for him. I just think the least people can do is show a little respect and gratitude for him by giving him that last spot on the row of boats. A least they stuck a replacement up their! People would have been really mad if the pole walk didn't happen!

I usually anchor just outside the pole but this year they were too restrictive. Plus with high tide there were just too many large boats in the way. I ended up tying up to the end of the raft up and climbing over at least 8 boats to get a good shot. After it was over about 5 or 6 other boats had tied up to mine!
