WOW !!!! That's the first thing to come to mind when I saw the welcome the tall ship "Picton Castle" received entering Gloucester Harbor! The LNG supply boat "Gateway Endeavour" supplied the WOW with her two powerful water guns. The schooner "Thomas E. Lannon" provided escort of this magnificent display. The funny thing is I had no clue she was coming in this morning. I rounded Rocky Neck and saw two huge jets of water towering behind Ten Pound Island. I pushed the throttle forward in my excitement to rush out there to get these shots.

Jay, these are FABULOUS shots! My favorites are probably the 2nd and 3rd one down with the schooner looking like a ghost behind the mist.
How I wish I had been there too. What a gorgeous day for the boats to come in. Finally the rain has stopped!

Thanks Sharon! It was a surprise to see such a welcome! I found out later that those water guns pump out 950 gallons of water per....second... each! And can saturate a 1/4 mile area! I wish I could have recorded the sounds. It sounded like standing at the base of a large waterfall.
The pics are fab. I was there for the picton comming into port and it was spectacular
