After the June Block party was rained out a little luck helped bring good weather to July's Gloucester Downtown Block Party. Organizer Joe Ciaramitaro was attacked by a seagull which made a direct hit on Joey's shirt! As it turned out it was a perfect night, the crowds came and all had a good time!
Yup...he got me right there!
Painting on the street!
The crowds are building!
A birdseye view!
Enjoying the scenery!
It's getting crowded!
Lisa O'Maley and her husband Ed Reither from San Francisco...Lisa is Gloucester born and bred while Ed tries to learn Gloucester lingo!
Rob Newton of the Cape Ann Community Cinema showing his grandfather's vintage Gloucester post cards. This one of Gloucester harbor hand painted colorized from 1890!
Joe is interviewed by the Beacon!
No he's not sipping beer, his drink is behind the beer bottle!
Patroling the street!
Scooting along!
Dining in the street!
Enjoying slush!
Dressed to party!
All dressed up!
City Hall even looked good for the night...I tried this freehand!

Hey there! Great pics! that's me painting! I will post a pic of the finished painting on my blog: www.debbieclarke.blogspot.com
best,
deb.
Thanks for posting these Jay. I was counting on you as I was busy with the media presentations and you came through!
Thanks Debbie! I caught you before the crowds started to swarm about!
Joe....you would make one tough demanding newspaper editor!
Love your photos and blog.Love the pink building.....amazing for New England.
Thanks! That's nice of you to say. I'm not a big fan of the color pink but...I think it's becoming a trend in building color. Gloucester's Senior Center is a Pepto Bismol shade of pink! For a senior center I guess it fits!
Look at that Segway! What a hoot! Can't say I've seen any that looked quite like it.
Good luck to Ed! Unless you are born and raised in New England it's nearly impossible to pick it up. What gets me is that there are so many different dialects!
Post cards from 1890?? That's amazing history! It must have been so great to see them!
Looks like a great time and great weather : )

Ed's got a great teacher in his wife Lisa. Her dad was my dad's buisness partner for 35 years! They were also class mates and team mates growing up.Not once in their buisness together did they have an argument!
