We were hit with 17" of snow and gusts as high as 70 mph. On top of that a full moon tide produced flooding the likes of which we've never seen. But it could have been worse, no homes were lost though some flooded and the shore roads were spared damage unlike other storms of the past. Power outages were also kept to the minimum and those areas that did, power was restored quickly.
One area hard hit with flooding was the parking lot at the New Balance Track & Field at Newell Stadium. The rebuilt stadium was raised about 3' and that helped contribute to destroy about 60 vehicles parked there. The flood waters had no place to go which filled the parking lot with about 4' of water. This lot and the stadium has flooded in the past and I was dumbfounded the lot remained open. With a city parking ban in effect this lot was one of many school lots designated for parking during the ban.
