The Japanese defense forces couldn't stop Godzilla.....I captured the beast!
Spied this over Route 128 on my way home from work. Dirty windshield and strong sun glare I had to darken the image and crop out the sun. That's the only edit to what's probably my worse quality image. I figured some would get a kick out of it so I posted the pic on facebook. A few shares later it's gone world wide! Who would of thunk it?

Why I created this......

Born and raised in Gloucester, Ma fishing gets in your blood. Surrounded by the sea, kids here have a boat almost as much as kids elsewhere have bicycles! As I grew older my fishing ambitions gave way to what's around me. Although I still "drop a line" every so often, my attention wanders to the majesty of the natural light that make this place so special. Never is each day the same. The subjects may be the same but the light from the sea & sky will morph the subject into a form of art. For that reason artists have been drawn to these shores for several hundred years, they followed the light painting and sketching these surroundings. What artists capture with paint on canvas, I attempt to capture with a click.....if I'm lucky!

I guess that's a sort of Fish'n!

BIG!

Really BIG! Gloucester is about to receive what will be some of the biggest wind turbines in the country if not the world! One will be erected at Varian Semiconductor while the other two at Gloucester Engineering in the Blackburn Industrial Park. The two at Gloucester Engineering will supply 90% to 100% of the electrical needs of all city owned buildings! The turbines will be towering about 565' above sea level when completed! And to assemble something that big you need a big crane. The components have been shipped from Spain to Boston then are to be loaded on barges to Gloucester. I stopped by Cruiseport Gloucester as workers needed a big crane to assemble the larger crane! Wide crawler! Crane dwarfs Dodge Dakota! Assembling a really BIG crane! Assembling the boom. Workers assemble crane. As seen from the Fish Pier. Very wide! Boom deployed. Top of boom.

This must be a mirage. Obviously such marine industrial activity cannot coexist on the same property as a waterfront restaurant.

...Yet it does along with unloading fish, boat yard work, a next door freezer warehouse and all its truck activity and now wind turbine logistics! Hey... if you're bored with who your dining with, there's always something going on to watch!

It is actually two turbines at GE and one at Varian :)

Thanks! I saw one under construction at Varian with a sign on another part of their property that read "2nd wind turbine location" I only saw one site at Gloucester Engineering being prepared but that could be for two.
