My Views of Gloucester !

Why I created this......

Born and raised in Gloucester,Ma fishing gets in your blood. Surrounded by the sea, kids here have a boat almost as much as kids elsewhere have bicycles! As I grew older my fishing ambitions gave way to what's around me. Although I still "drop a line" every so often, my attention wanders to the majesty of the natural light that make this place so special. Never is each day the same. The subjects may be the same but the light from the sea & sky will morph the subject into a form of art. Artists have been drawn to these shores for several hundred years, they followed the light painting and sketching these surroundings. What artists capture with paint on canvas, I attempt to capture with a click.....if I'm lucky!

I guess that's a sort of Fish'n!

Waterfront Surgery !

Another day on the docks and another seagull rescue. A big Blackback gull was hanging around and it was soon discovered it had a treble fish hook caught in the corner of it's mouth. Gloucester Seafood Display Auction dock worker John Burnham sprang into action and using the temptation of a fresh mackerel, captured the wounded gull. Surgery followed,a successful one at that, and the gull was off with a fresh fish as a reward for being a good patient!

Captured!

"Gimpy" is a gull that was nursed by the dock workers when it was a chick. It had fallen off the roof on to the dock and injured it's leg. Other than a limp, "Gimpy" is doing just fine.

I know what a pain the gulls can be down there so it's nice to see the guys showing some compassion towards them. Poor guy. Hope he got the fish in the end!

He got the fish and gulped it down in no time flat, and didn't appear any worse for wear.
