With the Annual Gloucester Schooner Festival coming up this weekend I figured I'd bring up some images of past festivals. But first I spotted CBS "Survivor" contestant Jimmy Tarantino racing the schooner "Thomas E. Lannon"! "Jimmy T" was gaining on the Lannon and even caught her while she was under engine power. But the Lannon does what she does best when the sails were raised and left "Jimmy T' in her wake.

The Fishermen's Memorial Service
Every year Gloucester pays tribute to the more than 10,000 fishermen that left our port never to return. We gather at the Fishermen's Memorial to listen and support the surviving family members as they tell very moving and emotional stories of their loved ones who will never return and never be forgotten.

Gloucester Morning....Essex Afternoon !
The town of Essex now famous for it's fried clams and antique stores was once a mecca for ship building. Through the years over 4000 Gloucester fishing vessels were built along the tidal Essex River. Today's journey begins with Glouceter's north channel at 5:30am then it's off to Essex around 3:30pm.

We Needed Rain And We Got It !
We sure needed rain and this Nor'easter sure provided it. As far as a Nor'easter goes I would say it was more on the nuisance side. It lacked the strong winds but a day of drenching rains pounded the coast for most of the day.
Storm front approaches.
Watery walkway.
"Little Mako" was able to fish!
Waiting to unload.
Dumping a load of haddock.
More haddock.
Culling the catch.
Popsicle break!
Boats in the rain.
Beach day for gulls.
Lonely Good Harbor Beach.
Picture time!
Twin lights of Thacher Island.
Another view.
