The Japanese defense forces couldn't stop Godzilla.....I captured the beast!
Spied this over Route 128 on my way home from work. Dirty windshield and strong sun glare I had to darken the image and crop out the sun. That's the only edit to what's probably my worse quality image. I figured some would get a kick out of it so I posted the pic on facebook. A few shares later it's gone world wide! Who would of thunk it?

Why I created this......

Born and raised in Gloucester, Ma fishing gets in your blood. Surrounded by the sea, kids here have a boat almost as much as kids elsewhere have bicycles! As I grew older my fishing ambitions gave way to what's around me. Although I still "drop a line" every so often, my attention wanders to the majesty of the natural light that make this place so special. Never is each day the same. The subjects may be the same but the light from the sea & sky will morph the subject into a form of art. For that reason artists have been drawn to these shores for several hundred years, they followed the light painting and sketching these surroundings. What artists capture with paint on canvas, I attempt to capture with a click.....if I'm lucky!

I guess that's a sort of Fish'n!

The Beauport Hotel Has Been Born!

Since the 1920's the Birdseye plant has sat on Pavilion Beach. It was a result of Clarence Birdseye's then new innovation, the process of frozen foods. Back then Gloucester was on the forefront of new innovations that eventually changed the world. Soon every home had a refrigerator and foods from every part of the world was available any time of the year. As in technology things change and by the late 1970's transportation changed as refrigerated containers and trailers meant that the frozen food process didn't need to be close to the food source. This doomed the Birdseye plant, without having direct dockage and situated on a beach no other marine use could be found. The plant sat virtually empty for almost 20 years. The property has been reborn, the new Beauport Hotel now is ready to take Gloucester on a new journey. A venue that will provide the business infrastructure this city was lacking. More foot traffic for downtown and 3 layers of taxes (meals, room and property) for the city's coffers.
The other day I was able to walk the halls and look around. Decorated with photos of old time Gloucester this place is stunning. Both the setting and the hotel itself compliment each other. In other words it's a photographers dream!

Randomness!

Before and after posting a tribute for my dad for Memorial Day, I had taken shots around here and there. I also included a few more "refurbished" photos from Hurricane Irene 8/28/11.
