The Japanese defense forces couldn't stop Godzilla.....I captured the beast!
Spied this over Route 128 on my way home from work. Dirty windshield and strong sun glare I had to darken the image and crop out the sun. That's the only edit to what's probably my worse quality image. I figured some would get a kick out of it so I posted the pic on facebook. A few shares later it's gone world wide! Who would of thunk it?

Why I created this......

Born and raised in Gloucester, Ma fishing gets in your blood. Surrounded by the sea, kids here have a boat almost as much as kids elsewhere have bicycles! As I grew older my fishing ambitions gave way to what's around me. Although I still "drop a line" every so often, my attention wanders to the majesty of the natural light that make this place so special. Never is each day the same. The subjects may be the same but the light from the sea & sky will morph the subject into a form of art. For that reason artists have been drawn to these shores for several hundred years, they followed the light painting and sketching these surroundings. What artists capture with paint on canvas, I attempt to capture with a click.....if I'm lucky!

I guess that's a sort of Fish'n!

Santa Is On His Way!

I got lucky again and managed to "capture" Santa on his run. Boy he is fast, it wasn't easy. In a blink of the eye he's gone only to appear again as he crisscrosses the sky going all over the world!
A reminder......He won't land on your roof until you are fast asleep!

Here he comes! You can make out Rudolph's bright red nose!

Christmas Is Almost Here!

Signs of Christmas is everywhere even though the weather doesn't feel like it. On a sad note Saturday afternoon a Coast Guard helicopter was circling the harbor, not knowing the reason and thinking they were on one of their training exercises I headed behind my house and take a few shots. A 56 year old woman was reported missing.

Lobster Trap Christmas Tree 2015!

Gloucester's unique Lobster Trap Christmas Tree just got more interesting. This years version you can enter! As in years past school children from Gloucester decorate the tree with hand painted lobster buoys which adds that extra "Glosta" touch.

Here's the tree in 12/15/13 with snow on the ground!

The Unforgiving Sea

Late Thursday afternoon as the Fishermen's Memorial looked out upon the ocean a battle raged between men and the sea. The F/V Orin C. was 12 miles off Thacher Island with her 3 man crew taking on water in 10 foot seas. Phil Powell in his F/V Foxy Lady answered the distress call and raced to their position. He was able to get them in tow but after several hours the weather and the seas got worse. The Coast Guard 47 footer arrived and managed to pass over a pump and took over the tow. Loose debris in the bilge from all the pounding clogged the pumps and could stop the flooding and the F/V Orin C. sank. Two crewmen managed to be saved but sadly after heroic efforts by the Coast Guard and Phil Powell and his crew of the F/V Foxy Lady, 47 year old Captain David Sutherland succumbed and died.

Also Per the Gloucester Daily Times:
The Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Association, according to GFWA President Angela Sanfilippo, will establish a memorial fund to assist Sutherland’s three children and grandchild — Lea, 16; Scott, 13; and his adult daughter Larissa and her infant son Franklin, who is less than a year old — as well as Palmer and Lane, who lost most of their possessions when the Orin C sank.
Financial contributions to the Sutherland Children’s Fund can be made at the TD Bank branch at 2 Harbor Loop in Gloucester beginning sometime Monday
Also, age-appropriate Christmas gifts for the children and clothing for them and the surviving crew members may be dropped off at the Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Association Office at 2 Blackburn Center in Gloucester.
