The Japanese defense forces couldn't stop Godzilla.....I captured the beast!
Spied this over Route 128 on my way home from work. Dirty windshield and strong sun glare I had to darken the image and crop out the sun. That's the only edit to what's probably my worse quality image. I figured some would get a kick out of it so I posted the pic on facebook. A few shares later it's gone world wide! Who would of thunk it?

Why I created this......

Born and raised in Gloucester, Ma fishing gets in your blood. Surrounded by the sea, kids here have a boat almost as much as kids elsewhere have bicycles! As I grew older my fishing ambitions gave way to what's around me. Although I still "drop a line" every so often, my attention wanders to the majesty of the natural light that make this place so special. Never is each day the same. The subjects may be the same but the light from the sea & sky will morph the subject into a form of art. For that reason artists have been drawn to these shores for several hundred years, they followed the light painting and sketching these surroundings. What artists capture with paint on canvas, I attempt to capture with a click.....if I'm lucky!

I guess that's a sort of Fish'n!

Harbor Business and Tragedy!

While heading home from work I decided to take a ride along Stacy Boulevard and saw anchored the 650' "Seabourn Sojourn". Most of her passengers spent the entire time ashore in Gloucester and Rockport seeing the sights. On Thursday I noticed a vessel  tied up at the Cruiseport Gloucester Terminal, the 135' "Beauport Princess" which will be used for dinner cruises. While I was there checking her out I noticed crew from the privateer "Lynx" working on her mast. Then next door at Roses Marine the crew of the fishing vessel "Terra Nova" was busy with what looked like bailing out the boat. Later I discovered the boat had sunk about 3 miles outside and the crew of two was rescued Friday night. More from the Gloucester Times
Update: Sad news to report, one crew member has died per the Gloucester Times

From Sunrise to Sunset!

October is a special time in these parts, fall colors explode in a sort of change of the season fireworks display. Now that I'm working the midnight shift I now get a glimpse of the morning light.

Dawn is breaking as pockets of fog fill in the low spots as I head back home to Gloucester.

A Year Ago This Month HMS Bounty Lost at Sea!

The tall ship HMS Bounty was here in Gloucester to celebrate the annual Gloucester Schooner Festival. A few weeks later she sank during Hurricane Sandy off the coast of North Carolina. Fourteen of her crew was saved with the loss of her captain Robin Walbridge and crew member Claudene Christian. Here is a collection of photographs of the HMS Bounty and the Parade of Sail of 2012.
