The Japanese defense forces couldn't stop Godzilla.....I captured the beast!
Spied this over Route 128 on my way home from work. Dirty windshield and strong sun glare I had to darken the image and crop out the sun. That's the only edit to what's probably my worse quality image. I figured some would get a kick out of it so I posted the pic on facebook. A few shares later it's gone world wide! Who would of thunk it?

Why I created this......

Born and raised in Gloucester, Ma fishing gets in your blood. Surrounded by the sea, kids here have a boat almost as much as kids elsewhere have bicycles! As I grew older my fishing ambitions gave way to what's around me. Although I still "drop a line" every so often, my attention wanders to the majesty of the natural light that make this place so special. Never is each day the same. The subjects may be the same but the light from the sea & sky will morph the subject into a form of art. For that reason artists have been drawn to these shores for several hundred years, they followed the light painting and sketching these surroundings. What artists capture with paint on canvas, I attempt to capture with a click.....if I'm lucky!

I guess that's a sort of Fish'n!

The Big Dig Out!

Time to dig out from a wild ride. "Nemo" packed a punch here, compared to the Blizzard of "78" I'd say we did much better this time. Some homes and businesses in Gloucester and Rockport were hit hard but for the most part we did well. The day after many roads were still difficult to travel on but local crews did an outstanding job keeping up with the storm. I'm dug out! East Gloucester Elementary School My boat cover weathered the storm! My nephew Seth clears out his driveway. Good Harbor Beach footbridge didn't do so good! Another look. Lone surfer. Searching for a wave....a day late! Sailor Stan's! A Rocky Neck Jewelry shop. Schooner "Adventure" Snowed in door on Rocky Neck. East Main St. Buried Beacon Marine. Our Lady of Good Voyage Church Birdseye Commercial St. NO PARKING! Snow covered fishing gear. Fitz Henry Lane House Fitz busy sketching! Icicles! During the storm I had to carry Allie out to do her thing.....Now she likes it! Snow in my truck! Snow removal on the Boulevard. Boy could I use one of those! Fishermen's Memorial

BURIED!

"Nemo" has struck! While my wife was at her parents house I hunkered down to a night of house rattling noises from the ferocious winds. Not once did I loose power which was amazing. Back in 1969 we were hit with a 41" snowfall and this same neighborhood was out of power for almost two weeks while the National Guard had to dig Gloucester out! The dog hated it, I had to carry her out the door to do her thing! She squatted did her thing and made a bee line back to the door! I tried to get a snow depth reading but with all the drifting it's tough and the snow is still coming down! My best guess range is 28-32 inches of the white stuff. I did take a ride when "Nemo" was at our "front door" when the snow was just starting to fall as the winds picked up. Fishermen's Memorial Swirling snow at Good Harbor Beach. The house. Wind picks up. About 7:00 pm! 50 mph winds sustained....88 mph gust! Street view. The morning. Buried! Side yard. My truck buried! Boy I'm lucky, a wind blown path to my shed and snow blower! Back Yard. Huge Drift!

Sun and Snow!

Weather forecasters said we may be in for a dusting to 2" of snow. They were off a little bit as we had an all day light snow event. As I type about 4" is on the ground. This post covers the last five days from sunshine to snow and a side trip to nearby Essex. Schooner "Ardelle" at her Essex marsh winter home. Phil Powell's "Foxy Lady" Stern view. Bottom work. Net work as the giant wind turbines loom above. Varian's wind turbine which towers 565' above sea level in shadow. "Ugly Duck" Recently cited by the Coast Guard for using improper fishing gear "Princess Laura". NOAA's regional headquarters on the hill above. The fleet comes in. Jim Ford's "Lisa Ann II" The dude of Birdseye....can you see him? Flats piled high against the Annisquam Market. Ipswich Bay Wooden Buoy shack. Recently restored Lanes Cove shack. Stacked Lobster buoys. Snowy Boulevard. Fishermen's Memorial A prayer.
