Funnel Cloud Over Gloucester!

About 6 pm I heard the distant rumble of thunder then checked the weather radar. Figuring I had maybe 20-30 minutes before the storm hit, I headed up the hill behind my house to hopefully capture lightning. Well my attempt proved a nano second off on some impressive bolts. But as I scanned the sky I saw a distant rotation of clouds forming a funnel. Soon after I took my last shot the winds picked up and quarter size raindrops fell from the sky. I scrambled to put my camera back in the bag as I ran through the woods down the hill. Small tree branches were breaking off and falling around me! I made it home just in time to close the windows.

Storm builds at 6:07 pm

At 6:18 the funnel takes shape

At 6:19 the funnel begins to drop.

About 30 or so seconds later it's really taking shape. That's when the rain started and the winds picked up sending me home in a hurry!
