A Gloucester Tradition!

The 2012 Annual Gloucester Schooner Festival is an event that's magnificent to behold! Fellow blogger and friend and I Steve Borichevsky headed out for the Parade of Sail. The only disappointment of the day was the HMS Bounty which stayed tied to the dock during the parade. It would have been nice to see her sails among the schooners. But even without her the Adventure stole the show. Finally she has an engine installed after 58 years! It was a mad dash for her crew to get her ready just in time. Though she still lacks her sailing rig it was wonderful to see her lead the parade. And don't forget to check out Steve's blog Shooting My Universe for many awesome shots! More to follow....... HMS Bounty at night. Moon behind the clouds. Rigging All lit up! Getting "Speedwell" ready. HMS Bounty close up. Crowds gather at Fort Defiance! "Adventure" leads the parade! Passing Fort Defiance. Watching "American Eagle" go by. "Stanley Thomas" Reds sails! Big crowd on the "Thomas E. Lannon". "Thomas E. Lannon" and "Liberty Clipper" A gathering of schooners. "Sugar Babe" A belly dancer aboard the "Ardelle"! "Spirit of Massachusetts" and "Summerwind" "Adventure" bow.
