Frame up and covered,ready for winter's onslaught. The yearly ritual boat owners in these parts perform. The first year I had this boat I tried shrink wrap and it was the last. I wasn't too happy of the mold and mildew that formed along the rub rail from moisture that developed due to the tight plastic. Also the mess of having to get rid of a 5" diameter ball of plastic. Then I considered the $225.00 yearly cost of having it installed. Solution....a $35.00 tarp! The trick is making it as tight as possible to prevent the wind from flapping and tearing the material. I get 4-5 years out of a 40'x30'tarp for my 21' boat and an added bonus of protection from the gel coat fading sun by being able to cover almost down to the keel. Over the next few days I'll tuck in and cinch down here and there where needed.
