The City Remembers!

10,000 Gloucester fishermen went down to the sea in ships....never to return. Saturday the city remembered with a solemn ceremony at the Fishermen's Memorial. Fishing vessels gathered in the harbor as family,friends and the public payed tribute to those who lost their lives at sea. Grace Burbridge and Josie Russo read poems in honor of their father,husband and father in law Matt Russo and John Orlando which were lost on January 3,2009 when their fishing vessel "Patriot" sank.

    Thanks all and yes Joe I try to let the photos tell the story. It was emotional and solemn and strengthens the statue's true meaning. It's just not a piece of art it's also a symbol of sacrifice and faith.

    It appears the town did a very nice job honoring those who have been lost. It must have been mighty hot though!
