August Winds Down!

We got a full day of rain last week and the brook behind my house flowed, but 24 hours later it dried up. A few weeks ago I got stung by a wasp and a week later my niece did too, the other day my dog got stung so I went on a wasp nest hunt. After probing with a rake handle I found it buried behind a clump of vines next to my side gate.  They were Bald Faced Hornets which are in the wasp family and very aggressive! I mounted an attack with soapy water in a spray bottle and won! The soapy water coats their skin and they drop like flies, they breath through their skin. I didn't suffer any stings during the attack!

A Week With No Rain and Teasing Clouds!

The drought continues with a possibility of rain on Monday. We shall see, this summer the rain seems to avoid Cape Ann. The brook behind my house is now dry as a bone, we need a multi day soaker for real relief.
