The Japanese defense forces couldn't stop Godzilla.....I captured the beast!
Spied this over Route 128 on my way home from work. Dirty windshield and strong sun glare I had to darken the image and crop out the sun. That's the only edit to what's probably my worse quality image. I figured some would get a kick out of it so I posted the pic on facebook. A few shares later it's gone world wide! Who would of thunk it?

Why I created this......

Born and raised in Gloucester, Ma fishing gets in your blood. Surrounded by the sea, kids here have a boat almost as much as kids elsewhere have bicycles! As I grew older my fishing ambitions gave way to what's around me. Although I still "drop a line" every so often, my attention wanders to the majesty of the natural light that make this place so special. Never is each day the same. The subjects may be the same but the light from the sea & sky will morph the subject into a form of art. For that reason artists have been drawn to these shores for several hundred years, they followed the light painting and sketching these surroundings. What artists capture with paint on canvas, I attempt to capture with a click.....if I'm lucky!

I guess that's a sort of Fish'n!

Foggy Sights!

I was on my way to work about 11:00 pm heading south on Route 128 when I came upon patches of fog. It was a strange fog with areas forming about 50' above the roadway in spots as I drove. By the time I turned onto Route 62 in Danvers the fog lowered to ground level and very thick in spots. About 1:00 am making my rounds at work I headed up to the roof top mechanical room. There I check to make sure all systems are running normal then decide to poke my head out the door to check the weather. Spread out before me a thick carpet of fog has spread across the North Shore, above a clear star lit sky. As I looked in amazement I saw a brilliant meteorite streak straight above. The fog ran from ground level to about the 7th or 8th floor of this 18 story building and I headed back down to my office to grab my camera. While setting up the camera on a mini tripod the moon broke through above the carpet and I was in awe!

East Gloucester's Maxwell Parsons Playground!

Maxwell Parsons Playground behind the East Gloucester Elementary school was a gift to the city for the children of East Gloucester. It's been in place as a playground since 1937, before that a cow pasture then a gravel pit. The playground was named in honor of Lieut. Arthur Maxwell Parsons a member of the US Army Flying Corp who died during WWI in an air crash. In 1948 the school was built and over the years new class rooms were added. Parking and traffic had become an issue with the increase enrollment and additional staff. A solution was a new parking lot in a small corner of the playground, doing so the memorial plaque was framed by the parking lot and dumpsters! Now in a new more prominent location the local Girl Scout Brownie Troop under the leadership of Gloria Parsons have "adopted" the memorial to care for its landscaping. Monday afternoon the troop re-dedicated the memorial.....Well done girls!

A September Shoot!

There was nothing planned in this post. But I did notice the fishing vessel steel hull "new" Razzo which replaced the old wood hull Razzo. A new paint scheme, and he "new" Razzo finally looks like it belongs!

More of the 2013 Gloucester Schooner Festival!

With 258 pictures taken I had a few more to go through. This year as you can see the weather was damp but just enough wind to fill the sails. And with the overcast cover lighting was actually better than I anticipated. Other years depending on my location in relation to the sun, some images were over exposed. I suppose that's the beauty of photography here on Cape Ann. With all the variables chances are that you'll be happy with the result.
